Our Soloists:

Soprano: Lisa Jarosinski has been studying voice since 1992 after receiving a scholarship for voice lessons while singing with the Handel Choir of Baltimore. Lisa studied voice with Mr. Frederick Petrich for 18 years until his passing in 2010. She has been studying with Ms. Kyle Engler since then. She sings with the Frederick Presbyterian Church and the Masterworks Chorale of Carroll County. Lisa has two children; a college graduate who is out on her own and a college senior. Lisa lives in Mount Airy with her husband and their dog.

Mezzo-Soprano: Jenna Lebherz Daly’s operatic journey has taken her to several corners of the world, with her favorite roles along the way including both Meg and Jo of the modern American opera, Little Women, Hansel in Hansel and Gretel by the New York Lyric Opera, Dorabella from Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte with UMD naturally reflecting her goofy sense of humor and playful stage acting, just as the red hot attitude of the classic Carmen suited her own vocal color in Brook’s La Tragedie de Carmen at Pine Mountain Music Festival. Mrs. Daly holds dual Bachelor’s degrees in Vocal Performance and Music Education from Westminster Choir College, along with a Master’s in Opera Performance from the University of Maryland Opera Studio. While she has attained several awards, an honor to her is the appreciation of her students and the daily opportunity to inspire music in their lives. Mrs. Daly is the Artistic Director of the Children's Chorus of Carroll County, and is the Performing Arts Department Chair teaching Pre-Kindergarten through 8th Grade at Gerstell Academy. She lives in Frederick, MD, with her loving husband and her twin girls, "The Daly Double."

Tenor: Seth Hench has been singing, playing, and performing since childhood. He played and sang for several Salvation Army brass bands and choirs throughout his childhood and teenage years including being a part of the renowned PenDel Brass & Singers from 2001-2003 and performed a solo on their Heartfire album. He has appeared with many community theater groups in the Baltimore area, most recently with Glyndon Area Players in the role of Vlad Popov in Anastasia. Throughout the Barbershop Harmony Society's contest season Seth performs and competes with his barbershop quartet, Treblesome,

Bass-Baritone: Matthew Frieswyk brings depth and artistry to both operatic and concert repertoire. He studied under Dr. Philip Collister at Towson University and regularly appears with Opera AACC, where he has distinguished himself in several Gilbert & Sullivan and Mozart productions. As a current member of the Handel Choir of Baltimore, he maintains an active presence in the region’s choral music scene. His previous Messiah performances include collaborations with Roland Park Presbyterian Church and the Frederick Children’s Chorus. He will next appear as Owen Hart in Opera AACC’s production of Jake Heggie’s powerful contemporary opera, Dead Man Walking, portraying the emotionally complex role of a grieving father struggling with questions of justice and forgiveness.

What is a Messiah Sing?

This is an opportunity for audience participation during the performance of Handel’s most famous and beloved composition, The Messiah. Under the direction of a conductor, soloists will present the Recitatives and Airs [descriptive names for the types of pieces one person will sing!] Included in the Oratorio, the type of work this is, are Choruses which are sung by a number of people. A choir in the front will lead THE AUDIENCE in singing these. Audience members may or may not want to participate…it is all good! The music speaks for itself and even as a listener, being immersed in the singing is joyous. Since many people have sung The Messiah at some time in their life, this is an ideal time to open up “the pipes” and sing out! There will be word sheets and music scores at the performance and many times, concert goers bring their own scores. There are no mistakes or judgements!  Moving forward, all of Carroll Sings! With One Voice! events will feature sing-a-longs.
